About Rep. Kristian Grant

State Representative for Michigan's 82nd District, Grand Rapids and Wyoming.

My Story

Rooted in the Community. Focused on Results.

Serving the people of Grand Rapids and Wyoming has been the honor of my life. Every decision I make starts with one question: Will this make life better for the people I represent?

I grew up believing that where you live should never determine what you can achieve. That's why I've dedicated my career to expanding opportunity for the people and neighborhoods I call home. Whether serving on the Grand Rapids Public Schools Board or representing the 82nd District in Lansing, my mission has stayed the same: make government work for the people it serves.

Before serving in the Legislature, I spent six years on the Grand Rapids Public Schools Board, including two years as Board Chair. During that time, I also served on the City of Grand Rapids Master Plan Committee, Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. Board of Directors, the Southtown Corridor Improvement Authority, the Promise Zone Authority, the Convention Arena Authority, and the SmartZone Local Development Finance Authority. Those experiences gave me a firsthand understanding of how thoughtful planning, strong schools, and economic investment can create lasting opportunity.

Today, as your State Representative, I've worked to lower housing costs, strengthen our neighborhoods, expand economic opportunity, improve public safety, and bring millions of dollars back home for local priorities. From passing legislation to securing investments that families can see and feel, my focus has always been on delivering real results.

Public service has never been about politics for me. It's about showing up, listening to residents, working with people who are ready to get things done, and making sure the voices of Grand Rapids and Wyoming are heard.
